ABSTRACT

In this response, I attempt to provide additional, relevant details about the context of the research study presented in my chapter, and I also describe directions for future research that I perceive based on my work as well as the thoughtful commentaries from Duschl and from Felton and Kuhn. Specifically, I will present a brief argument that we still have much to learn about how to support students in developing a sophisticated understanding of disciplinary forms of argumentation.
