ABSTRACT

We have been encouraged by Nardi’s and Barab’s appreciative comments regarding our research on mobile computing. As Nardi notes, we initiated this research with a prejudicial desire to improve field-located learning experiences through the introduction of the hand-held devices, a predisposition that clearly influenced the direction of the project. We are grateful that Barab considers us non-“technophilists,” but we tend toward that end of the technological continuum and need occasional reminders of our technophilic proclivities.
