ABSTRACT
The Oshima and Oshima chapter describes case studies of the uses of a web-enabled collaborative learning environment (WebCSILE) in Japanese university courses. In some of these cases, the desired goal of fostering “progressive discourse” was achieved; in other cases it was not.
