ABSTRACT
We appreciate the constructive commentaries by Jim Levin, Xiaodong Lin, and Giyoo Hatano. They raise some interesting issues that we would like to pursue further. In this reply we describe some subsequent work related to the original chapter and then attempt to answer some questions raised in the commentaries.
