ABSTRACT

The year is 1891 and my name is Ivan Mikhailovich Sechenov. I am professor of physiology at the University of Moscow. A funny thing happened at the University today. From America, I received a letter from some psychologists who will be members of the first Council of a new society called the American Psychological Association. They are inviting me to deliver an address at the first convention of the association in December 1892. The suggested topic is a question: “Are there General Principles of Psychology?” If I accept, they want a copy of my paper before I deliver it. Fortunately, I already have one on the topic they proposed. They also asked me for a copy of my Curriculum Vitae. Maybe I’ll begin with that.
