ABSTRACT
Just as nontraditional and family, the words in the title of this book, mean different things to different people, so does the word adoption. Although it refers to the legal transfer of responsibility for parenting a specific child from one adult or couple to another adult or couple, the term is used to refer to a number of different family situations.
