ABSTRACT

As emphasized in previous chapters, the naturenurture issue is at the core of philosophical and theoretical debates about the character of human development. Indeed, across substantive domains ranging from those associated with intraindividual levels of organization (e.g., temperament and personality) to those linked with social behaviors (e.g., parenting), we have considered scholars’ ideas pertinent to nature, nurture, interactional, and relational, developmental systems perspectives.
