ABSTRACT

Older adults are a small, but increasing, proportion of World Wide Web (WWW) users (Morrell, Mayhorn, & Bennett, 2000). An important goal for human factors professionals is improving quality of life for older adults by helping them remain independent longer. Allowing the World Wide Web to become an important link to health information and services for older adults with limited mobility can help us achieve this goal. In this chapter, we briefly describe general goals of human factors practitioners, then we discuss the application of human factors research and methodology to the problem of Web site design for older users.
