ABSTRACT

Computers-the Internet, hardware, software, and e-mail-the domain of the 12-year-old? Well, perhaps, but don’t bet on keeping the grandparents on the electric typewriter. Those over the age of 60 were potentially the fastest-growing group using the Internet for the first time this past year. Those who have retired and are looking for ways to communicate with their peers and grandchildren are turning to e-mail. It’s fast, reliable, and affordable, and it provides a communication link that has revolutionized how grandparents are relating to their grandchildren and, for many shut-ins, provides a communication link to the world around them.
