ABSTRACT
Most of us would prefer, as we age, to remain in our own homes and have any necessary care provided by family members, with episodic help readily and easily available from local health and human service providers. The desire for functional independence and avoidance of institutional care is very strong and has led to a whole new industry focused on providing services in the home and community setting.
