ABSTRACT

Sir Frederic C.Bartlett (1886-1969) is a legendary figure in British psychology. During his lifetime, his thinking affected psychologists around the world. Today he is chiefly remembered for his great book, Remembering: A Study in Experimental and Social Psychology, published in 1932. However, as with most great intellectual leaders, his interests and influence were much wider and deeper than reflected in this single work. He made contributions to the study of perceiving, thinking, skilled behavior, fatigue, and other topics. In addition, he helped train a generation or more of British psychologists who became famous in their own right and dominated the field of psychology in all of Great Britain.
