ABSTRACT
The population of Canada has become increasingly diverse in terms of ethnic origin. Immigration has ensured that no one ethnic group constitutes a majority, and intermarriage has resulted in more than one fourth of the population citing more than one ethnic origin. Except in the cases of First Nations (Native Canadian) peoples and visible minorities, the very concept of ethnicity has lost much of its earlier significance.
