ABSTRACT
This final chapter sets out some themes that are common to the various chapters in the volume. It will immediately become apparent that the themes chosen are somewhat idiosyncratic, and certainly do not pretend to capture the depth of thought that went into each of the original chapters. That said, I found it striking that a common theme, on which authors divide, concerns how to study excellence empirically. This is the topic of the next section.
