ABSTRACT

Computers are used every day toimprove the quality and efficiency of day-to-day tasks in homes, businesses, and schools. Why not use computer technology to improve the quality and efficiency of tasks that occur every day in the classroom—specifically, classroom assessment tasks ? This is a relevant question due to the growing number of products being introduced for classroom assessment purposes. Unfortunately, although the products are now available, there has not been a reference source that lists these products or tells what these products can offer. Consequently, the Assessment Training Institute—through newsletters, the Internet, and word of mouth—initiated a search for classroom assessment products. This search resulted in a variety of computer software products being identified and subsequently profiled. 1 A summary of this information is provided in this chapter.
