ABSTRACT

Coordination theory has most often been considered to be the domain of man-machine interactions. Indeed, throughout most of this volume you will see that the majority of research reported involves computer collaboration with humans to some degree. The research presented in this chapter, however, takes a different tack: It is concerned with the content of information that is necessary for successful cooperation between teams of mobile robots. Most of the communication studies we refer to are at subhuman levels (i.e., derived from animal studies).
