ABSTRACT
One type of computer-based system to support collaborative work (“group-ware”; Johnson-Lenz & Johnson-Lenz, 1982; Ellis, Gibbs, & Rein, 1991) is most often called a Group Support System, or GSS. Other terms that have been used include Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS; DeSanctis & Gallupe, 1987) and Electronic Meeting Systems (Nunamaker, Dennis, Valacich, Vogel, & George, 1991).
