ABSTRACT

We return again to our twosome of Cindy and Scott. Remember they went to take an unusual test to find out what each of them was suited for. The test, the Gedanken Computerized Adaptive Test (GCAT), was unusual in that it was administered by computer and the particular set of test questions administered to a person would depend on who that person was. Cindy got one set of test questions and Scott got another. These computerized tests had another interesting feature—Both Scott and Cindy felt that they had answered about half the questions correctly, which for them was quite unusual. After the testing session, they compared notes.
