ABSTRACT

The purposes of this meta-analysis are (a) to assess the effectiveness of positive behavioral support (PBS) using several different quantitative effect size measures calculated from single-case studies in the research database on PBS published between 1985 and 1996, (b) to explore the effect of specific participant and experimental characteristics on the measures of the effect size, and (c) to suggest directions for research and practice in conducting experiments and meta-analyses with single-case studies. The focus is on the application of PBS for people with developmental or cognitive disabilities and/or autism.
