ABSTRACT

Beth and Jackie reported on a school committee meeting they attended over the summer. At that meeting Nancy said that she thought the Network Faculty Development Committee (NFDC) had grown and developed more than any other group in the Network. The school committee agreed that three members of the school committee and three from the NFDC would be the planning committee for the Mentoring Institute that would take place in 1993. They talked about the upcoming institute and the regional meetings that would take place the following two summers. In early June, the NFDC sent the school committee a formal proposal to combine the teacher-researcher program with the traveling teacher workshop. Under Nancy's leadership, the group started suggesting objectives, based largely on the proposal developed at the Springfield institute. Sheila suggested the use of narratives, and the group liked the idea. They also suggested teaching the group members how to write journals as an example of a reflective practice.
