ABSTRACT
The use of mean length of utterance (MLU) is a frequently applied measure in research of involving children with specific language impairment (SLI). MLU is used to indicate children’s productive grammatical complexity, to determine the stage of their grammatical development, and to compare children with language problems with typically developing children or other subgroups of children with language problems. These comparisons may involve a single language or a number of languages.
