ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses some issues concerning the linguistic explanation of the clinical symptoms found in children with specific language impairment (SLI). It shows that predictions about the symptoms of SLI can change depending on the descriptive framework that is adopted. Explanatory accounts themselves can also change due to new evidence about SLI from a previously unreported language.
