ABSTRACT

To build something worthwhile that is lasting, whether as an individual or a community, one must have a working philosophy that also allows one to dream and envision a better future. For American Indian people and indige-nous people around the world who have suffered the ravages of colonization, this becomes especially true as they set out to build educational institutions to serve their communities. A strong core of ethics, a clear set of professional education principles, and a worldview of their own can and should be their guiding force as they build their dream educational institution.
