Reflections on Personality and Organization

The editors have asked that I reflect on the context of organizational research in the early 1950s and 1960s and then use the context to frame my own views of the relationship between the individual and the organization. Somehave called this period the golden age of organizational research (Schneider, Smith, & Sipe, 2000).
