ABSTRACT

Home visiting as a way of providing services to families in need has a long history in health, social services, and education.Many services in use today have their roots in the advancesmade in social services during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Early services were often designed for mothers and children, the sick, and the poor. Home visiting for educational purposes was also prevalent in the early 1900s, with visiting teachers serving as a link between home and school.
