ABSTRACT
The growing cultural diversity of families participating in family literacy programs offers significant challenges and opportunities for program design, implementation, and evaluation. The extant research literature on family contributions to children’s literacy development is based mostly on middle-class Euro-American populations. Far less is known about the literacy environments of lower income, culturally diverse families increasingly servedby family literacy programs.
