ABSTRACT

Over the past two decades, family literacy services have evolved, from a discreet program of colocated services for adults and children, to a structured educational approach that embraces the ideologies and methodologies of multiple disciplines, to work with diverse at-risk populations under a variety of circumstances. As the scope of family literacy services has expanded, so too has the intricate network of delivery and support systems to meet escalating needs of both the field of family literacy and the families themselves. The further development of this network, which includes families, educators, training institutions, policymakers, and researchers, is crucial to the vitality of family literacy in the coming years.
