ABSTRACT
Dance is an activity dating to prehistoric times. Dance-as sacred ritual, as communication, as social activity, as art form-exists in every culture and follows many paths. How does “creativity” play out in a domain that is both universal and culture specific? And why did the dance described at the beginning of this chapter, made and performed in a classroom by students with little dance training, have such an impact on those who watched?
