ABSTRACT

I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1971. I grew up in a very small community called Caribou Gold Mines. My earliest memories of literacy are with my mother. She read story books to me, wrote poetry, sang songs, played games, and we loved to make up stories together. I was very lucky to have such a positive literacy role model. I now reside in Langley City with my 8-year-old daughter, Mickenzie. She attends Grade 3 in an inner city school called Nicomekl Elementary. I work as a Data Entry Clerk for Sprott-Shaw Community College in Langley.
