ABSTRACT

The creation of a new agenda for Latino/a education in the 21st century is fundamentally a conceptual task. It involves both the clarification and resolution of historic paradoxes involving Latino/a education as experienced in the United States, and the creation of a new vision of Latino/a pedagogy that is premised on the belief that Latino/a students can be successful learners. This new vision is framed by four fundamental principles that are meant to guide the work of educators in the 21st century:
