ABSTRACT
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The country has a population of 59.8 million (CIA, 2002). The islands that make up the United Kingdom are located between the north Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. English is the predominant language of the country. Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, and Irish Gaelic are the most widely spoken indigenous minority languages.
