ABSTRACT

The Kuomingtan government of the Republic of China established its capital in Taiwan in 1949. Taiwan’s population is 22.61 million. The offline channels such as the terrestrial channels and satellite channels are unable to generate more revenues online because of a lack of bandwidth, different mindsets, and diverse program sources. Therefore, they mostly use webcasting as a supporting medium rather than as a business in itself. This chapter analyzes the business models of the top 20 webcasters. To identify the top 20 webcasters in Taiwan, the author considered selecting them on the basis of revenue and traffic. Webcasting services require high bandwidth from the provider. The users also need to have a broadband internet connection in order to enjoy the quality of the webcast. During the first stage of broadband deployment, fast speed was important to the wide diffusion of broadband.
