ABSTRACT

Computer technology has increased exponentially over the past 50 years. From the bulky vacuum tubes used in the early 1950s to the use of transistors in the late 1950s and 1960s, and personal computers (PC) beginning in the mid1970s, scientists and engineers have been constantly working to improve computer technology in order to make it more accessible and useful to the general public. In addition, the Internet has opened a whole new chapter in global communications. People can now connect to anyone across the globe and access information about almost any topic at a click of the mouse. Not only can one access web sites that contain a plethora of knowledge, but people can communicate with experts about a wide range of topics, obtain feedback on specific questions through web postings and online bulletin boards, and engage in online activities for the sole purpose of entertainment.
