ABSTRACT

In considering “bridging” social psychology, I outline a general position and then make some related points about the study of prejudice. Unless one holds to some vision of the sovereignty of social psychology, drawing on the knowledge of other relevant sciences must always be necessary for a full description and understanding of any concrete instance of human social life. What is less obvious is that theory in social psychology, the delineation of general principles and processes, is also inescapably tied up with bridging.
