ABSTRACT

Even prior to praising Pearson properly I want to praise our dedicatee, Ralph Rosnow. I cannot praise him properly because that would leave no space for Pearson, so I will be brief: Ralph is my oldest friend-colleague-collaborator-teacher-coach-and mentor. He has been ruining my character and spoiling me for over 35 years, beginning back when we both started the Boston phases of our careers in the early 1960s. He spoiled me when he invited me to collaborate with him in his ongoing research program. He educated me in matters historical, philosophical, and theoretical. And then, whenever I needed cheering up, he wrote a book-and put my name on it. (That does wonders for your morale!) I must have needed a lot of cheering up because Ralph did that a lot of times, and he’s still doing it, I’m happy (but embarrassed) to report. Thank you, Ralph!
