ABSTRACT

In recent years, workplace stress has increasingly become associated with job performance and productivity. According to the (U.S.) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), work-related stress is defined as "harmful emotional and physical reactions that occur as a result of jobs that do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of workers" (Scorza, 1998). NIOSH has recently estimated that seventy-five percent of workers perceive their jobs as stressful and twenty-five percent perceive their jobs as the most stressful factor in their lives (Scorza, 1998).
