ABSTRACT

Hence, if the doctor is fully informed about the patient’s medical history and undertakes not to disclose information received in the course of the consultation/treatment, people’s health, welfare, a patient’s general good and overall happiness will be more easily attained. Conversely, if patients thought that doctors might disclose private information about their health and related matters, they might be too embarrassed to reveal this information and might, therefore, not disclose potentially vital information which the doctor might need to treat the patient properly; or the patient might reveal the information, but be very anxious that the information could be revealed to third parties at any time.
