ABSTRACT

Five possible parents: commissioning parents; sperm donor; ovum donor; surrogate mother who bears the child. In this connection, it is instructive to refer to s 30 of the HFEA 1990, as far as married couples are concerned. Their application to be treated as the child’s parents will be approved provided one of the spouses is the child’s genetic parent and various conditions have been satisfied; hence, the requirements of s 30(2)–(7) must be complied with, for example, that the child’s home has been with the applicant husband and wife (this is discussed below).
