ABSTRACT
In 1995, Guyana liberalised its abortion laws so that abortion is now permitted without restriction as to reason during the first eight weeks of pregnancy. After eight weeks, but before 12 weeks have elapsed, a woman may obtain an abortion on broad grounds, including socio-economic considerations.
