ABSTRACT

As soon as practicable after a patent has been granted, the Comptroller must publish (in the Official Journal (Patents)) a notice that it has been granted. A patent is granted on the date of publication of the notice, and the owner or proprietor of the patent must be sent a certificate in a prescribed form. The effect of the grant puts an end to all pre-grant procedures (ITT Industries Inc’s Application (1984); Ogawa Chemical Industries Ltd’s Application (1996)).
