ABSTRACT

The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council was established by the Judicial Committee Act 1833 to hear appeals from colonies and dominions. The Act was later amended by the Judicial Committee Act 1844. Section 24 of the 1833 Act provided for the making of rules by the Privy Council ‘regulating the mode, form and time of appeal’. The Rules made thereunder are common48 to all Commonwealth Caribbean countries who becoming independent individually accepted the jurisdiction of the Privy Council.
