The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods2 (CISG or the Convention) has been in force since 1988.3 The Convention’s purpose is at least two-fold: ‘to assure a uniform regime for ... international sales contracts’; and to ‘offer rules that will be more responsive than the traditional national laws to the effective needs of international trade’.4
