ABSTRACT
In general, prophylactic antibiotics are not administered for traumatically inflicted wounds unless there is a particular indication to do so – for instance a badly contaminated wound or a wound in someone who is immunologically compromised, ie a patient with AIDS, leukaemia, etc.
