ABSTRACT
This is an area that has given rise to a prodigious amount of regulation both at Irish and EU level. This chapter does not deal with legal protection of the environment generally, but focuses instead on the principal sources of Irish law that feature authorisation and licence procedures in respect of activities that may impact on the environment.
