ABSTRACT
The recent liberalisation process in the Irish energy sector is focused mainly on the gas and electricity markets. The two largest sectors of the industry, together with the oil sector, account for the bulk of Ireland’s energy requirement. As the oil sector has never been dominated by a monopoly and is not in need of liberalisation, the regulatory issues raised in relation to oil are minimal.
