ABSTRACT

This short chapter seeks to describe the work of a charity – the IQRA Trust – which aims to promote a better understanding of Islam in Britain. As such, the chapter has no greater goal than describing some of the historical milestones of IQRA and some of the work we have undertaken. Of note, the chapter describes how IQRA became involved with HM Prison Service, offering advice to that agency about the increasing numbers of Muslims being incarcerated in England and Wales, and thereafter how it sponsored research and held conferences with prison service personnel and other professionals working in the criminal justice system.
