ABSTRACT
A peace support operation is an operation that impartially makes use of diplomatic, civil and military means, normally in pursuit of UN charter purposes or principles, to restore or maintain peace. Such operations may include conflict prevention, peacemaking, peace enforcement, peacekeeping, peace-building and/or humanitarian operations. The contribution of the police to achieving domestic peace and stability is increasingly recognized as vital.
