ABSTRACT
Compstat (short for computerized statistics) is a police managerial accountability mechanism. It is designed to be a process by which police commanders can be made accountable for the crime levels in their command areas, and it aims to reduce crime and quality-of-life problems by making commanders answerable to the executive level of the Police Service.
