ABSTRACT
This chapter considers the crucial importance of communication skills for effective interviewing. It examines a model for establishing and maintaining rapport developed as a result of research for the Sûreté du Québec, 2 Québec, Canada. It concludes by raising questions which indicate the need for further research in this area and by identifying possible areas for fruitful research.
