ABSTRACT

Discussions in this part resonate some of the arguments developed in earlier chapters around the issues of integrating mitigation and adaptation options and paradigm development in spatial planning. However, the approach here is more related to actions and implementation of innovative policy tools. It focuses on the importance of futures thinking in spatial planning for adaptive measures and discusses the significance of governance relations, with particular emphasis on leadership, the role of individuals in institutions, partnership for policy implementation, and public engagement in the implementation processes. Therefore, the chapters in this part can be divided into three broad themes:

role of scenarios and modelling;

policy implementation;

governance and public engagement.
