ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses trends in the design of solar sustainable housing for warm and hot climates. The first section, ‘Trends towards sustainable housing’, examines these trends for a number of warm climate countries in terms of the following issues:
trends in solar sustainable housing;
government policy, legislation and structure (which part of government is responsible for sustainability);
standards of energy consumption for housing;
initiatives to promote solar housing; and
marketing.
